For this reason, Aklan Cooperative Mission Hospital made a strategic move to transform itself into a corporate entity named “Aklan Mission Hospital, Inc.” (AMHI) or simply “Mission Hospital”. With the move, the hospital lays the foundation for a stronger, more sustainable future, better equipped to serve the healthcare needs of the Aklanons. The change in name projects a corporate image, positioning it as a more modern and sophisticated healthcare provider, ready to face the challenges of the healthcare industry.

In keeping with the government’s healthcare program, Mission Hospital will devote part of its resources on preventive care, health education programs, and outreach initiatives to address the specific health challenges faced by the Aklanons. We will promote early detection and screening, and institutionalize patient teachings. We believe, as do a majority of experts, that the more educated the patients, the more likely they are to take their medication and help manage their own care. Today’s nurses assume most of the responsibility for educating patients and helping them to become responsible for their own health status. For patients to take a proactive role in their own care, they need to comprehend their condition and work to prevent or minimize complications from any chronic illnesses.
